DOLE Laguna Celebrates the National Best PESO Award of PESO Pila

During the celebration of DOLE Anniversary in San Pablo City, Laguna on 8 December 2020, Regional Director Henry John S. Jalbuena recognized the latest achievement of PESO Pila as the National Search for Best Public Employment Service Office winner in the third and fourth class municipality category for this year’s competition.

For someone who is committed to his work, there’s no office too big or too small to achieve, and even exceed, all deliverables.  It is for this reason that Mr. Jayson Palasin, PESO Pila Manager, was able to win the latest. What’s more interesting is the Office was recognized not just once but thrice this time around.

PESO Pila has been operating as a virtually one-man office for years. While this has been a challenge in a way, it was met by an opportunity to be extra flexible and resourceful to make ends meet.  After all, a local PESO handles various programs and activities such as referral and placement, guidance and counseling, and labor market information. There is also the implementation of the Special Program for Employment of Students not to mention job fairs.

Given the scope of functions, it was not all a breeze that Mr. Palasin had his share of stressful moments from time to time. The targets and deadlines to meet every month can be tough but he knows that this phase shall pass. Next thing he knew, he has already clicked the submit button and ready for another month’s accomplishment.

A typical PESO is not only an employment hub but is also considered as the local extension of DOLE. This is why PESO Pila has also been providing assistance to locals interested in livelihood and welfare programs. Many locals across different barangays in the municipality received livelihood grants.

Consequently, the milestones attained by PESO Pila do not go unnoticed.  The Local Government of Pila, through Mayor Edgardo Ramos, has this to say:

“The local government unit takes pride in the accomplishments of PESO Pila as the National Best PESO awardee made possible by hard work, dedication and passion for public service. Let this be a validation of exemplary local employment services to the people. More than anything else, this award will be an inspiration for us to keep up the good work and strive harder toward the greater good of the Pileño worker.”

DOLE Laguna will also be there every step of the way to sustain the excellent performance of PESO Pila. Laguna Provincial Director Guido R. Recio has been generous in extending the Office’s support to sustain and enhance all employment and livelihood endeavours of the local PESO. For in the end, the success of local PESOs in Laguna is also the success of the DOLE Laguna.

The local PESO can always rely on the technical assistance provided by Ms. Daisy G. Ramos who has been meeting one-one-one with PESO managers for monthly employment report coaching.

As they put it, once is luck, twice is coincidence and thrice is a pattern. PESO Pila is expected to make the most of this pattern to keep up with the trend. All this with the full support of DOLE Laguna.
