Press Releases

The DOLE is not only of service to the formal and informal sectors of our society. The department also gives importance and sees so much potential to today’s generation. Therefore, the department offers different programs and projects especially created for the youth. These include labor education for graduating students (LEGS), SPES, job fairs, and many more.

The DOLE also offers educational grant for deserving students. In Batangas, 2 students from District 1 received WODP scholarships for this semester:

Ma. Precious Jewel Bautista, now on her 3rd year in college and is taking BS Nutrition and Dietetics in Batangas State University – Nasugbu says, “Inspirasyon ko ang aking kapatid na 3 taon nang may chronic kidney disease at kasalukuyang dina-dialysis. Tinitiyak ko palagi na meron syang tama at balanseng diet. Kaya naman higit ang pagpapasalamat ko sa natatanggap kong scholarship mula sa DOLE. Malaking tulong ito hindi lang sa aking pag-aaral, gayundin sa aking kuya at sa aking buong pamilya.” Her father worked at the Mill and Boiler department at Batangas Sugar Central, Inc (BSCI) for 28 years (now URC-SURE) and is a union member.

Another WODP scholar is Marvin Atienza. He is currently on his 2nd year at Batangas State University – Main Campus and is taking Computer Engineering. His father, Anatalio Atienza, was also a union member and worked at URC-SURE as production worker for several years.

Mr. Darius Allan Lubis of DOLE-Batangas handed their checks on February 18 at the DOLE – Balayan satellite office, located at Balayan, Batangas. These scholars were both supported with educational grant since their first year in college.
