The Alyansa ng may Kapansanan na Nagmamaneho ng Sasakyan at Motor sa Pilipinas, Inc. (ALKASAMOPI) recognizes the initiatives of DOLE Rizal Provincial Office (DOLE Rizal) in providing assistance to their organization and to the Persons with Disability (PWD) Community at ALKASAMOPI Headquarters last July 19.

In line with the celebration of the 43rd National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation Week in the country, ALKASAMOPI-Rizal awarded plaques of appreciation to individuals and government institutions that answered their call for respect, equal treatment, and opportunity for the PWD Community. Among the awardees are DOLE Provincial Head Marivic B. Martinez, and Provincial Vice Governor Reynaldo San Juan Jr.

Ms. Martinez reminded the organization to put more effort on the branding of their livelihood projects specifically the Deaf Carwash, and Deaf Pizza, Bread, and Pastries. She emphasized that the people must know that business pioneered by an organization that promotes PWD inclusivity exists. Therefore, there is a need to put bigger tarpaulins and work on social media marketing in order to increase their sales and customers.

Last April 28, DOLE Rizal awarded a total of PhP 588,975.00 to ALKASAMOPI for their livelihood projects.

Joseph Delgado, PWD Advocate and Founding Chairman of ALKASAMOPI, expressed his gratitude to DOLE Rizal because of the livelihood assistance that they received.

“Kami po ay labis-labis na sumasaludo at nagpapasalamat doon sa kanila, dahil kung wala po ang tulong ng DOLE ay hindi po namin ito magagampanan. Kaya po kami ay sobra-sobrang nagpapasalamat po dahil natulungan po nila kami sa pagsasagawa ng livelihood project,” Delgado said.

Also, Delgado calls the public for the equal treatment and guidance for the PWD Community.

“Sa ating mga kapatid na wala pong kapansanan, ang mga PWD ay itrato naman po natin sila nang pantay-pantay na pagtrato sa lipunan. Huwag natin silang kaawaan bagkus, I-guide po natin sila kung ano ‘yung kakayahan ng isang PWD at para mai-motivate po natin sila at huwag po natin silang I-discriminate,” Delgado added.

ALKASAMOPI is a non-government organization founded in 2018 that aims to promote camaraderie, equality and inclusivity to individuals from the PWD Community, especially the PWD riders and drivers.

Currently, the organization has 70 deaf members and 40 members with orthopedic conditions. Deaf members are employed at the organization’s carwash business, and pizza, bread, and pastries business. Some of them are working as courier riders, especially if there are products that need to be delivered to the customers like bread and pastries.

DOLE Rizal has been an advocate in promoting equal right, opportunities, and inclusivity of the PWD community in the Labor sector. TUPAD and DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program are some of the projects that the provincial office offers to the PWD sector.
