The Department of Labor and Employment Regional Office No. IV-A (DOLE IV-A) renewed its partnership once again with the Southern Luzon State University (SLSU) and Aceba Science and Technology Institute (ASTI) as they once again inked a memorandum of agreement on August 4, 2021 held at the Bahanaw Hall of SLSU Hotel and ASTI Tayabas Campus respectively.

DOLE IV-A Regional Director Exequiel Ronie A. Guzman signed with SLSU President Dr. Doracie B. Zoleta-Nantes, Mr. Rizaldy Veranga - President, Quezon Federation of Public Employment Service Officers, Lucban Mayor Celso Olivier Dator. ASTI Vice President Shyrell Segui and Council Luz Cuadra representing Tayabas Mayor Ernida Agpi Reynoso also signed the agreement while Tayabas City PESO Manager Marylou Montoyo acted as witness.

RD Guzman said that both agreements were merely a formality of the collaboration that has already existed for years.

“DOLE Quezon informed me that the partnership between DOLE IV-A, SLSU and ASTI is already existing for several years even before the signing of the first MOA. We are very thankful to them for their continued support to our programs and services especially when it comes to employment facilitation,” RD Guzman said.

ARD Leaño II echoed RD Guzman’s sentiments and added that the cooperation is a perfect example of what the government agencies and educational institutions could achieve if they worked hand in hand.

"This is a proof that through the convergence of government agencies a more effective and efficient program implementation is achieve. And that is clearly manifested in our projects with SLSU and ASTI," he said.

According to Dr. Zoleta-Nantes, the partnership with DOLE will allow the Career and Job Placement Unit of the Office of Student Affairs and Services of SLSU to continuously provide job opportunities to its students and the entire community, not only in Lucban but also all throughout Quezon province.

“Our partnership will prove to be most beneficial to all our stakeholders because of the convergence of our efforts and good will,” Dr. Zoleta-Nantes stated during her message of commitment.

DOLE Quezon Provincial Head Edwin T. Hernandez mentioned that the signing of agreement would somehow pave way for graduating students to realize their dream of securing a job that would suit their qualifications in the future, hence, they will become productive citizens of the province.

Job Placement Office/Unit is a non-fee charging unit within an educational institution that provides employment services and coordinates its activities with the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) of the Local Government Unit (LGU). It will also assist the graduating college students through career coaching and the alumni in finding jobs which can eventually address the issues on jobs mismatch and unemployment.
