LABOR SECRETARY BELLO LEADS AWARDING OF LIVELIHOOD ASSISTANCE AND SAFETY SEAL IN LUCENA CITY

“The Department of Labor and Employment will be relentless in providing assistance to workers, whether in the formal or informal sector, through our emergency employment and livelihood programs being implemented at the regional level.”

This was one of the statements of DOLE Secretary Silvestre H. Bello III as he led the awarding of assistance on September 03, 2021 in Lucena City to selected beneficiaries of the DOLE Integrated Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program (DILEEP), Safety Seal Certification and Government Internship Program (GIP).

Secretary Bello further said that the awarding of assistance and certification are indicators of the government’s continuous support for Filipinos who lost their jobs and livelihood due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

 

“Ang inyong matatanggap ay hindi ninyo utang. Dahil sabi ni Pangulong Duterte, ang perang iyan ay pera ng taumbayan. Pera ninyo iyan. Kaya ito ay inyong alagaan at palaguin upang makatulong sa inyo lalo na ngayon sa panahon ng pandemya,” he added.

Secretary Bello was joined by Lucena City Mayor Roderick “Dondon” Alcala and Executive Assistant to the Mayor Mark Don Victor Alcala in distributing Free Bisikleta with accessories to 100 mobile vendors.

According to DOLE IV-A Regional Director Exequiel Ronie A. Guzman, DOLE IV-A is committed in helping the beneficiaries and their organization especially during the this time of pandemic.

“This is part of our continuous efforts to help ameliorate the effects of the pandemic. The Department of Labor and Employment, under the leadership of Secretary Silvestre H. Bello III, will deliver various services to the underprivileged who struggled the most during the implementation of the community quarantine,” Dir. Guzman said.

Secretary Bello also distributed over a P203,155.50 worth of livelihood projects to 10 individuals and P138,800.00 worth of livelihood assistance under Mission RACE program to 9 beneficiaries.

Furthermore, 5 barangays in Lucena City were given Certificates of Eligibility for Motorized Boats worth P2,400,000.00 while P1,500,000.00 under the Social Amelioration Workers Program (SAWP) for workers in the Biofuel Industry was released to Yakap at Halik Multi-Purpose Cooperative of Padre Burgos, Quezon, beneficiary of CME JNJ Olechemicals, Inc., for their Direct Copra Marketing for CME Feedstock Project.

Meanwhile, 480 youth under the Government Internship Program (GIP) received their stipend/allowance with a total amount of P1,478,726.66 during the activity.

 



Also during the same event, Secretary Bello awarded the Safety Seal Certification to Pearl Energy Philippines Operating, Inc. (Power Sector), Pacific Royal Basic Foods, Inc. (Manufacturing), Integrated Synergy Construction Corp. (Construction) and Liquigaz Philippines Corp. (Gas Depot/LPG Terminal). This is to affirm that the said establishments are compliant with the minimum public health standards set by the government.

There was also a turn-over of 4 hectare lot donated by former PNP Chief Recaredo Sarmiento II to Quezon Workers Alliance for Livelihood Training and Empowerment intended for Housing project of Quezonian workers.

Lucena City Mayor Roderick “Dondon” Alcala on behalf of the city officials, expressed his gratitude to Secretary Bello and to the DOLE officials for personally distributing the livelihood assistance to their constituents.

“Mula po sa Lungsod ng Lucena, taos-puso ang aming pasasalamat kay Secretary Bebot Bello sa mga tulong na inyong handog sa mga mamayan ng Lucena. Napalaking bagay po nito sa aming mga kababayan,” Mayor Alcala said.

Also present in the event were DOLE Undersecretary Atty. Benjo Santos M. Benavidez, Assistant Secretary Dominique R. Tutay, Bureau of Workers with Special Concerns (BWSC) Director Atty. Ma. Karina Perida-Trayvilla, DOLE IV-A OIC-Assistant Regional Director Atty. Nepomuceno A. Leaño II, DOLE Quezon Provincial Office Head Edwin T. Hernandez, Lone District of Iloilo Representative Jam Baronda, Candaba, Pampanga Mayor Rene E. Maglanque, Lucena City PESO Manager Cristina Encina and officials of the Lucena City Local Government.
