Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/ Displaced Workers (TUPAD) is a short-term emergency employment program of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) for the displaced, underemployed and seasonal workers. Their employment lasts for at least 10 days and should not exceed to 30 days.

In the province of Cavite, a series of TUPAD-related activities were conducted for the month of October.

On October 12, 2021, 250 TUPAD workers from Naic, Cavite received their wages in exchange for their 10-day community service. Honorable Junio C. Dualan, municipal mayor of Naic extended his gratitude and appreciation to Secretary Silvestre H. Bello, III, also known as Mr. TUPAD and to Senator Joel Villanueva, in coordination with the Provincial Capitol, for the implementation of the said program in their municipality. Mayor Dualan is hoping for more assistance to come for his constituents.

Meanwhile, eight barangay captains in the 3rd District of Cavite attended and participated in the orientation of TUPAD guidelines on October 14. The orientation is part of the pre-implementation phase of the TUPAD program prior to its execution. The activity highlighted the salient features of the program and its implementing rules and regulations. The package of assistance which includes payment of wages and coverage in group micro-insurance of the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) was also discussed to the program partners. The Imus District is expected to distribute the total allocation of Php24,684,000.00 to 6,171 beneficiaries next month.

The first and second batch of TUPAD workers from the 6th District of Cavite also received their wages on October 22 & 27, respectively. A total of 652 workers from the City of General Trias benefitted from the program by earning Php4,000.00 each in exchange for the completion of their assigned community tasks. Engr. Joseph P. Gacosta, Officer-in-Charge of DOLE Cavite, reminded the TUPAD beneficiaries to spend the money wisely. Engr. Gacosta also thanked the Office of the 6th District, specifically Congressman Luis “Jon-jon” Ferrer, who is also present during the event, for his continuous support and seamless coordination with DOLE.

These TUPAD-related activities only proves that Serbisyong TUPAD truly never stops in the province of Cavite amidst the pandemic.
