DOLE RIZAL HIRES ITS FORMER CLPEP-GOVERNMENT INTERN AS ADMINISTRATIVE CLERK

DOLE Rizal Provincial Office (DOLE Rizal) grants promotion to Alexandra May Santos, a Government Intern under the Department’s Child Labor Prevention and Elimination Program (CLPEP).

Santos, 23, earned her undergraduate degree in English at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines in 2019. Being a shy and a dependent type, Santos admitted that she often let her family decide what is best for her. But the ongoing pandemic changed this when she started to look for a job that suits her capabilities. She tried to apply to different companies both in the public and private sector, but often she was rejected. This didn’t stop her from pursuing the career track that she wanted which is to engage in public service.

Santos applied to Government Internship Program (GIP) of the Department and was hired on June 1, 2021. She was assigned to CLPEP and her main tasks comprised of activities related to being an Administrative/Liaison Officer of the program. Considering her skillset, attention to detail, organization, Santos became of great help in the profiling activity of child laborers. She assisted the Community Facilitator in handling the encoding of profiles of child laborers on its database. She also worked as team lead to her fellow interns whenever needed.

Santos’ superiors recognized her dedication to work and excellent performance. After five months of being an intern, Santos was promoted to Administrative Clerk, a Job Order position in the Department.

In one of her interviews, Santos said that she enjoyed her stay as a Government Intern in the Department for this enabled her to learn and discover her potentials.

“Actually, na-enjoy ko ang pagiging Government Intern. Ang dami kong natutunan during my stay. Kasi, nandoon ‘yung mga bagay na hindi ko naman usually ginagawa or parang hindi ako exposed sa mga ganoong situations tulad ng paglelead ng group. Isa ‘yun sa na-realize ko na kaya ko naman pala,” the former intern said.

Santos was also grateful to her colleagues in CLPEP for guiding her during her internship.

“Isa sa mga grateful talaga ako is ‘yung mga nakatrabaho ko sa program na ‘yun. Hindi nila ako pinabayaan and siyempre ‘yung tiwala na ibinigay nila sa akin,” Santos exclaimed.

Now that she was promoted, Santos pledged to do her best to excel in her job.

“Thankful ako sa trust na ibinigay sa akin ng DOLE. And I assure you na gagalingan ko, na mag-eexcel din ako as a J.O.,” Santos said.
