RIZALEƑO IDR SCHOLAR PLEDGES TO STRIVE HARD ON HIS 1ST YEAR AS SCHOLAR

Isabelo Delos Reyes (IDR) scholar commits to work hard on his studies as he received the second tranche of his allowance for school year 2021-2022 on February 16, 2022.

John Patrick Cuesta is a 21-year-old son of Pastora Cuesta who works as a quality checker in Frankhaus International Corporation, a garment factory in Taytay, Rizal. Pastora's affiliation to Frankhaus International Corporation Workers Union-ALU-TUCP paved the way for her son to be the recipient of the said scholarship.

Under the Department Order No. 203 series of 2019, it was mentioned that “officers and members of worker’s organization including their legitimate dependent child” could avail the IDR Scholarship Grant. The Department will cover the educational expenses of the grantee including the tuition fee and miscellaneous fee. They are also entitled to a stipend to be given monthly.

Now on his 2nd year as Medical Laboratory Sciences Major at Our Lady of Fatima University in Antipolo, John Patrick shared how the IDR Scholarship Grant changed his life.

However, John Patrick admitted how his studies is also affected by the pandemic due to online-based learning set-up which makes it more challenging for him as a student in the medical field.

Because he has classes to attend to, Victor Cuesta, John Patrick’s father claimed the checks for his tuition and stipend on his behalf. WODP Focal Charmaine Baisa awarded the checks to Victor instead.

Victor extends his gratitude to DOLE Rizal Provincial Office (DOLE Rizal) for their constant support to his son and their family.

John Paul received a total of PhP 29,000.00 for his tuition and miscellaneous fees, and stipend. DOLE Rizal vows to continue their support to different workers organizations in the province.
