DOLE Rizal awarded 13 units of bicycles to 13 fully-vaccinated vendors and online sellers from the different barangays in Cardona, Rizal on February 22, 2022.

Aside from the bicycle, each vendor received an android phone, cellular load amounting to P5,000.00, helmet, reflectorized vest, raincoat, insulated leather bag, and water bottle that could help them for the delivery of their products.

DOLE Rizal Director Marivic B. Martinez told the beneficiaries a brief overview about the program and the goods that they received.

“Ang inyo pong mga matatanggap ay mula sa programa ng DOLE na BikeCINATION na kung saan kinakailangan na kayo ay fully-vaccinated upang makatanggap ng livelihood assistance upang makatulong sa inyong existing na mga negosyo,” Director Martinez explained.

The said livelihood grants were given to the beneficiaries under the Department’s BikeCINATION Project of DOLE Integrated Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program (DILEEP). The BikeCINATION Project aims to help the beneficiaries make their products available to their target consumers through the provision of bicycles for delivery. The project is also one of the efforts of the Department to promote and incentivize the act of getting vaccinated against COVID-19.

One of the 13 beneficiaries granted with the livelihood is Jessica Muztaza, a 34-year-old, and a mother of two meryenda vendor from Brgy. Dalig, Cardona, Rizal. She became the breadwinner of her family after her construction worker husband’s income was greatly affected by the COVID-19 quarantine restrictions. She and her husband helped each other in selling meryenda like nilagang mais, itlog, and abnoy (an exotic street food delicacy made with unfertilized rotten duck egg). She explained how the bicycle and her new android phone would help her meryenda business.

“Kapag po may umorder [sa amin], idedeliver po. Kapag po may tumawag sa amin na nagpapadeliver, madadalhan po sila agad [noong aming produkto]. Maraming salamat po sa DOLE sa ibinigay po nila sa amin,” Muztaza gratefully explained.

DOLE Rizal Provincial Director Marivic Martinez spearheaded the awarding of grants to the beneficiaries together with DILEEP Focal Person Janine A. Rivera. Cardona Municipal Mayor Teodulo C. Campo is also present on the said awarding. The local chief executive extended his gratitude to the Department for always including their municipality and constituents to the programs of the Department.
