DOLE Rizal Provincial Director Marivic B. Martinez visited the 100 Jobstart trainees of Panasonic Manufacturing Philippines Corporation (Panasonic) during one of its learning sessions held inside the company premises of Panasonic in Taytay, Rizal on February 08, 2022.

PMPC senior officials, President Kondo Yasushi, Panasonic General Affairs Manager Kozumi Atsushi, and Panasonic Center Subhead for Accounting and IT Michael Borja, greeted and briefed Director Martinez as to the ongoing learning session.

In her message to the trainees, Director Martinez reminded them to strive learning as they are fortunate enough to be part of the Jobstart program of the Department paving their way to employment considering the country is still suffering from the adverse economic effects of the global pandemic.

“We know for a fact na mga trainees kayo under the Jobstart program ng DOLE. So, ang hiling lang ng DOLE ay mahalin natin ang current na ginagawa niyo ngayon because we have an aim na ma-employ kayo. Iyon ang aim natin, ma-employ kayo, get a regular position dito sa Panasonic. Iyan ang main purpose natin,” Director Martinez said.

The trainees are enjoyingly learning isometric and orthographic drawings from their trainer, one of Panasonic’s Engineer, when DOLE representatives visited. Panasonic uses the traditional on-site classroom setup for their learning sessions to ensure that the trainees understand the crucial lessons and to elicit immediate feedback from the learners.

“Ilabas ninyo ang devotion niyo na makuha ninyo ang work na ine-aim niyo rito sa Panasonic. One at a time, make sure you listen to your trainer kung ano iyong pinapagawa sa inyo, makinig nang mabuti. You will be handling sensitive equipment, and sensitive machines na kung saan ang titignan pa rin natin ay ang inyong safety,” Director Martinez added.

Aside from Director Martinez, DOLE Rizal Jobstart Focal Person Abigail P. Gilpo was also present during the said visit to oversee the implementation of the program and to know the status of the trainees.

Jobstart Philippines is one of the programs of the Department aimed to enhance employability of at-risk youth to improve their integration into productive employment. The 100 trainees are due to undergo series of learning sessions within three months in Panasonic to develop the required skills of the company and professionalism in the workplace. The three-month internship period will follow right after the end of their technical training.
