3,023 UNEMPLOYED AND DISPLACED WORKERS IN TANAUAN UNDERGO TUPAD ORIENTATION

The Department of Labor and Employment Regional Office No. IV-A (DOLE IV-A) thru its Batangas Provincial Office (DOLE BPO) convened the 3,023 beneficiaries of the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) at the Tanauan Institute, Tanauan City, Batangas, recently to orient them on the program.

The activity was facilitated by DOLE BPO Focal Person, Ms. Salvacion Kalalo. She was assisted by TUPAD Coordinator, Ms. Patricia Ivana C. Magsino, Ms. Aljane Elaine V. Lorica, Mr. Elvin P. Tapalla. This was made possible through coordination with the District 3 Office Headed by Cong. Maitet Collantes.

Ms. Kalalo centered her briefing on the objectives, importance and mechanics of the program. She emphasized that TUPAD is a community-based package of assistance that provides emergency employment for displaced workers, underemployed or seasonal workers. She explained that each beneficiary is required to perform certain tasks in the community for 10 days and will be paid the prevailing minimum wage of P400.00 per day.

The orientation’s highlight was the Contract Signing and Distribution of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE's) including, t-shirt, buri hats, washable face masks, and face shields.
