DOLE Quezon Provincial Office Head Mr. Edwin T. Hernandez led the ceremonial turnover of the livelihood packages together with Quezon Governor Helen Tan, Vice Governor Third Alcala III and Board Member Harold Butardo.

“We are very honored at the Department of Labor and Employment to be given the opportunity to provide assistance and support to the informal workers. We are here to provide you with the help that you need whether in times of crisis or not,” Mr. Hernandez said during the distribution activity.

Mr. Hernandez also emphasized that the livelihood assistance is for the improvement of the lives of the beneficiaries and encouraged them to persevere to make their livelihood flourish and help not only their families but also their communities.

“Masayang-masaya po ako sa small eatery package na ibinigay sa amin ng DOLE. Maraming salamat po dahil hindi na po kailangang magtinda ng turon at lumpia sa labas ang aking anak at mapapatuunan na niya ng pansin ang kaniyang pag-aaral. (I am very happy with the small eatery package given to us by DOLE. Thank you so much because my son no longer has to sell turon and lumpia outside and he will be able to focus on his studies),” said beneficiary Maricar*.

Meanwhile, Governor Tan lauded the DOLE QPO for being an active partner of the Provincial Government of Quezon in providing employment and decent work opportunities to Quezonians.

She also encouraged the recipients of the livelihood aids to sustain the assistance provided by DOLE to them as this assistance will help ease their economic plight and make them more productive members of society.

The DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program and Emergency Employment Programs (DILEEP) is one of the flagship programs of DOLE which seeks to contribute to poverty reduction and reduce the vulnerability to risks of the working poor, vulnerable and marginalized workers either through emergency employment, and promotion of entrepreneurship and community enterprises.
