Press Releases

The Department of Labor and Employment CALABARZON through its Rizal Provincial Office (DOLE-Rizal) orients 11 newly hired Government Interns who are tasked for the province’s child labor profiling on July 4, 2022.

The said activity is designed to equip the Government Interns regarding the specific tasks that they need to perform as profilers and encoders for the child labor profiling activity. Nine among the 11 interns will be deployed for fieldwork to identify and profile children engaged in labor. The remaining interns will be assigned in the office as data encoders.

Charmaine D. Baisa, the Child Labor Prevention and Elimination Program (CLPEP) Focal Person, discussed and explained the facets of the law addressing the protection of working children in the country. Rizal Community Facilitator Flint Osric T. Gorospe, on the other hand, discussed the detailed process of profiling so that the interns could perform their tasks efficiently.

Howard Butor, one of the newly hired interns from Antipolo City, believed that they should do their jobs efficiently to aid the reduction of child labor cases in the province.

“As a GIP [beneficiary], we need to do our jobs efficiently and effectively to mitigate child labor [cases],” Butor said.

Butor also expressed his gratitude to the Department for admitting him as an intern.
“I want to thank DOLE for accepting me as an intern as this will help hone my skills and open up career opportunities for years to come,” he added.

Rizal Provincial Director Marivic B. Martinez reminded the newly hired Government Interns to be passionate and do their work with dedication.

“So, kung ano ‘yung mga na-mention nina Ma’am Charm, ni Sir Flint, you keep it in mind. Dahil kapag nasa field na kayo, kayo na lang. Lagi niyong iisipin that you are representing DOLE. And as you represent DOLE, you should have that passion, the heart and dedication doon sa ginagawa niyo. Just enjoy your work and embrace niyo ‘yan,” Martinez reiterated.

Child labor profiling is one of the program components of CLPEP which aims to locate, identify, and profile children engaging in labor. Identified child laborers will be referred to different government agencies for the provision of services so that they would no longer resort to labor. The said initiative started in 2018 in line with the Philippine Development Plan 2017-2022.

Currently, DOLE-Rizal implements the said activity in Antipolo City, and municipalities of Montalban and Taytay.
