The Laguna Provincial Public Employment Service Office (PPESO) conducted a capacity development seminar for the Barangay Employment Service Unit (BESU) with the theme, “Matatag na BESU: Katuwang ng PESO sa Pagbibigay ng Legal, Ligtas, at Disenteng Trabaho”, on December 28 to 29, 2022, at Provincial Government of Laguna Extension Office, Brgy. Halang, Calamba City, Laguna.
Ms. Mary Jane B. Corcuera, Provincial PESO Manager graced the activity acknowledging all the 117 BESU members from different cities/municipalities. Also present were Laguna Governor, Hon. Ramil L. Hernandez, and Cong. Ruth M. Hernandez, both extended their appreciation to the BESU for their effort to help and be part of the progress of labor market in Laguna.
The main objective of this seminar is to educate Laguna BESU officers on employment facilitation programs of the Department of Labor and Employment Regional Office IV-A (DOLE IV-A), and PPESO that will benefit the constituents in their localities.
The seminars were facilitated by DOLE IV-A Senior Labor and Employment Officers, Mr. Jorge Manuel C. Laude of the Regional Office, Ms. Daisy G. Ramos of the Laguna Provincial Office (DOLE-LPO), together with Ms. Maria Cathleen N. Martinez, and Engr. Rodson G. Del Mundo of PPESO.
Seminar highlights include the reiteration of the three (3) core functions of PESO— Referral and Placement, Career Guidance and Employment Coaching, and Labor Market Information. Ms. Corcuera also facilitated the interactive workshop which aims to define the role and impact of BESU and how it is align with PESO. Each BESU were also given the chance to present the current programs in their localities. They also shared their best practices and plans on how they can be an effective BESU.
After the seminar, Director. Guido R. Recio, Provincial Head of DOLE LPO, presided over an oath-taking ceremony for the recently elected BESU officers.
To conclude the two-day educational seminar, BESU members and all current PESO managers, including DOLE-LPO staff, signed the BESU Pledge of Commitment as a sign of their willingness to improve and continue to be a conduit of PESO when it comes to providing good services not only to their constituents but also to all Lagunense.
