DOLE Laguna Hails Top-Performing PESOs Garnering 34 Awards During 2022 YEPA

Every month in the past year, DOLE Laguna Provincial Director Guido R. Recio would mark his calendar so as not to miss the regular meeting with the representatives of the Public Employment Service Offices (PESOs) in Laguna. It was an opportunity to listen directly to the partner implementers of DOLE programs and services at the local level. Through the years, the provincial office has formed a strong partnership with PESOs dubbed as the multi-employment service facilities of the government.

Each meeting was an avenue to raise issues and concerns and a platform to build strong group rapport. While there will always be an individual competition, the officers also understand the importance of giving the best performance as a collective. Some members would share their best practices with the group for performance improvement.

With a fruitful year accomplishing all deliverables in employment facilitation, it would be fair to say that the regular meetings did pay off. The group joined the 2022 Regional Planning and Assessment Activity on 18-19 January 2023. In the event, DOLE IV-A also gave due recognition to the top-performing PESOs in the region, with the Laguna group garnering 34 awards.

Regional Director Atty. Ma. Karina B. Perida-Trayvilla, through Assistant Regional Director Atty. Nepomuceno A. Leaño II, awarded the plaques of recognition to the representatives of the winning PESOs as part of the regional office’s tradition of commending excellence in the implementation of employment programs and services.

Special citations and five awards were given in each category for career advocacy and employment coaching, employment facilitation, labor market information, PESO Employment and Information System, and referral and placement of qualified job seekers.

Biñan City PESO, under the leadership of Mr. Romualdo A. Garcia, received the most recognition. Aside from getting a special citation for its assistance given to Persons with Disabilities, it also garnered all four awards under the Component City Category. These awards comprise another feather in the cap of the office after winning the National Search for Best PESO last year.

The Laguna Province PESO, led by Ms. Mary Jane B. Corcuera, swept all four awards under the First Class Province Category. It was replicated by Pila Municipal PESO, led by Mr. Jayson D. Palasin, under the Third Class Municipality Category.

The Nagcarlan Municipal PESO, headed by Ms. Lourdes D. Royo, received a special citation with three awards under the Second Class Municipality Category. In the same way, Pakil Municipal PESO, with the guidance of Ms. Russela F. Bacani, took home three awards under the Firth Class Municipality Category. Meanwhile, Kalayaan Municipal PESO with Ms. Faith F. Ferrancol and Sta. Maria Municipal PESO with Ms. Lilia A. De Roxas received two awards under the Fourth Class Municipality Category.

Seven more facilities received recognition such as Cavinti Municipal PESO (Ms. Judith Maralit), Rizal Municipal PESO (Mr. Mauro Isles, Jr.), Majayjay Municipal PESO (Ms. Maricel Granada), Siniloan Municipal PEO (Mr. Rico Suñega), Pangil Municipal PESO (Ms. Lorna Ramos), Famy Municipal PESO (Ms. Ethelwina Almanza), and Mabitac Municipal PESO (Mr. Niño Retoriano).

It is also worth mentioning that the Job Placement Office at the Laguna State Polytechnic University was cited for promoting the PhiljJobNet as a job search and matching platform.

As the formal recognition unfolded, Senior Labor and Employment officer and local employment focal Ms. Daisy G. Ramos tirelessly cheered and applauded each of the top-performing PESOs in Laguna for a job well done after a year full of meetings and other activities.
