Resource Speaker, Kier Gideon Paolo M. Gapayao, Information Officer II at PIA CALABARZON facilitated the training on News and Feature Writing, giving important tips and guidelines that would help improve the LIOs in writing Good News stories.

Additionally, as DOLE CALABARZON aims to adhere to the Civil Service Commission’s recent advisory on Paggamit ng Wikang Filipino sa Komunikasyon at Korespondensiya (CSC Patalastas Bilang 04, s. 2023), the Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino (KWF) was also invited to provide a basic workshop on writing news and features in Filipino. After the sessions on writing news and feature stories, the participants underwent a basic photography workshop with award-winning photographer, Mr. Richmond Chi from CameraHaus, one of the biggest camera dealers in the country. Mr. Chi discussed basic photography tips and techniques for beginners.

Meanwhile, Regional Director Atty. Ma. Karina B. Perida-Trayvilla reminded the participants of the importance of labor communications, “We have the opportunity to provide knowledge and awareness about labor issues and regulations...we can tell stories of our workers and share the best practices of the labor community, in doing so, we can help a more equitable and just society.”

After the training, DOLE CALABARZON’s next step is to undergo training on Ortograpiyang Pambansa, Korespondensiya Opisyal, at Pagsasalin. DOLE CALABARZON aims to translate its communications, starting with its press releases in Filipino*.

CALAMBA CITY—Labimpitong (17) Labor Information Officers mula sa Department of Labor and Employment Regional Office No. IV-A (DOLE CALABARZON) ang lumahok sa isang Capacity Building activity tungkol sa News, Feature, Filipino Writing at Basic Photography noong Pebrero 20-21.

(“We have the opportunity to provide knowledge and awareness about labor issues and regulations...we can tell stories of our workers and share the best practices of the labor community, in doing so, we can help a more equitable and just society.”)
