TECH-VOC GRADUATE FINDS NEW HOPE FROM DOLE GOVERNMENT INTERNSHIP PROGRAM (GIP)

Vaughn Jaden Nebla, a Tech-Voc graduate from Bgry. Pulo, Cabuyao City, Laguna greets DOLE with a big smile of gratitude. He is one of the 17 newly-hired government interns under the Department of Labor and Employment Regional Office IV-A’s (DOLE CALABARZON) Government Internship Program (GIP). “Isang bagong simula, isang bagong pag-asa. Ako po ay graduate ng Techvoc course, walang eligibility, walang experience at wala pang ipagmamalaki.” Nebla shared.

Nebla and his co-interns will be deployed at the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).

The GIP aims to provide opportunities for young workers to serve the public through the project and services of government agencies and offices at both the local and national level.

This endeavor was made official through the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between DOLE and DTI on January 13. The MOA signing was attended by officials including Assistant Secretary Blesila A. Lantayona from the DTI Regional Operations Group and DOLE CALABARZON Regional Director, Atty. Ma. Karina B. Perida-Trayvilla.

Usec. Lantayona, in her inspirational message, shared how happy she was of the timing of implementation of the GIP, as they needed more people in the monitoring of prices. She thanked DOLE for giving their new interns the opportunity. She also advised the new interns, “You give your heart, your all, dapat nakikisalamuha kayo sa client and customer. Learn new skills and experience how to work with national government and the productions. Thru this, you interns will become an industry expert and able to meet key players, so interns take the experience, take the exposure.”

Meanwhile RD Trayvilla congratulated the interns during her speech. She also shared other programs of the Department and made sure of helping the interns to find a decent job after their internship. “Maximize [your] time with DTI, i-cherish niyo ang mga ituturo ng supervisor. You can be absorbed by DTI, or we can facilitate employment with other government agency or even private sectors. We can also tap PESO from different localities. PESO is our conduit in employment facilitation. This is the start of your journey, inculcate readiness. Congratulations Interns!”

After the MOA signing, an orientation for the interns was facilitated by Ms. Daisy G. Ramos, GIP Focal Person from the DOLE Laguna Provincial Office. Here, the scope of the GIP was discussed, and included tips on how to build strong work ethics.
