Recently, the Department of Labor and Employment Regional Office No. IV-A (CALABARZON), through its Quezon Provincial Office (QPO), conducted back-to-back Labor Education for Graduating Students (LEGS) seminars to graduating students of Calayan Educational Foundation, Inc. (CEFI) and St. Anne College of Lucena, Inc. (SACLI).

DOLE QPO Head Mr. Edwin T. Hernandez mentioned that the LEGS seminar program aims to educate "would-be workers" about their legal rights and obligations in the workplace.

“Its purpose is to teach students how to seek employment, whether local or overseas successfully,” Mr. Hernandez said.

During the LEGS seminar held at CEFI, attended by 35 participants, DOLE QPO's Senior Labor and Employment Officer, Mr. Franz Raymond J. Aquino, served as the resource speaker. He educated the students on a variety of topics, including general labor standards, the fundamental rights and responsibilities of workers and employers, the current minimum wage, and social security coverage, among other topics.

On the other hand, Ms. Genecille Aguirre, Labor and Employment Officer III of DOLE QPO, spoke during the session held at SACLI, which 56 students attended. She offered the attendees guidance on increasing their likelihood of employment. She gave them an overview of the labor market and introduced them to the DOLE’s services for facilitating employment and protecting workers.

Mr. Hernandez explained that the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in the province of Quezon is continually working to develop and strengthen its Career Guidance and Employment Coaching (CGEC) and Labor Education for Graduating Students (LEGS) advocacy programs. This ensures that future workers will make enlightened and appropriate career choices and be ready for the workforce despite the changing times.

As a regular part of the agency's operations, LEGS serves as a vehicle to inform college students about labor laws, particularly about workers' rights and management prerogatives, so that they are better prepared for the world of work upon graduation.

MGA MAG-AARAL NA MAGTATAPOS NG KOLEHIYO SA LUCENA CITY SUMAILALIM SA LABOR EDUCATION

Ang Department of Labor and Employment Regional Office No. IV-A (CALABARZON) sa pamamagitan ng Quezon Provincial Office (QPO) nito ay nagsagawa kamakailan ng sabay na Labor Education for Graduating Student (LEG) Seminars sa mga mag-aaral na magtatapos ng kolehiyo sa Calayan Educational Foundation, Inc. (Cefi) at St. Anne College of Lucena, Inc. (Sacli).

Nabanggit ng pinuno ng DOLE QPO na si G. Edwin T. Hernandez na ang layunin ng programa ay upang turuan ang "magiging mga manggagawa" tungkol sa kanilang mga ligal na karapatan at obligasyon sa lugar ng trabaho.

"Ang layunin nito ay upang turuan ang mga mag-aaral kung paano matagumpay na maghanap ng trabaho maging lokal o sa ibang bansa," sabi ni G. Hernandez.

Sa mga seminar na ginanap sa CEFI na dinaluhan ng 35 na mga participants, ang Senior Labor and Employment Officer ng DOLE QPO na si G. Franz Raymond J. Aquino ang nagsilbi bilang tagapagsalita. Ibinahagi niya ang mga mag-aaral ang iba't ibang mga paksa, kabilang ang mga pangkalahatang pamantayan sa paggawa, ang pangunahing mga karapatan at responsibilidad ng mga manggagawa at namumuhunan, ang kasalukuyang minimum na sahod, at saklaw ng social security, bukod sa iba pang mga paksa.

Sa kabilang banda, si Ms. Genecille Aguirre, Labor and Employment Officer III ng DOLE QPO, ay nagsalita sa seminar na ginanap sa SACLI na dinaluhan ng 56 na mga mag-aaral. Ibinahagi niya ang mga gabay kung paano madagdagan ang kanilang posibilidad na matanggap sa trabaho. Ibinahagi din niya ang kasalukuyang labor market at ipinakilala ang sa mga ang mga serbisyo ng DOLE para sa employment facilitation at pagprotekta sa mga manggagawa.

Ipinaliwanag ni G. Hernandez na ang Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) sa Lalawigan ng Quezon ay patuloy na nagsisikap upang mabuo at palakasin ang Career Guidance and Employment Coaching (CGEC) at Labor Education for Graduating Students (LEGS). Ginagawa ito upang matiyak na ang mga manggagawa sa hinaharap ay magkakaroon ng maliwanag at naaangkop na mga pagpipilian na trabaho at magiging handa para sa trabaho sa kabila ng mabilis pagbabago ng panahon.

Bilang isang regular na bahagi ng operasyon ng ahensya, ang LEGS ay nagsisilbing behikulo upang ipaalam sa mga mag-aaral sa kolehiyo ang tungkol sa mga batas sa paggawa, lalo na tungkol sa mga karapatan ng mga manggagawa at pagpapasya ng mga tagapangasiwa, upang sila ay maging mas handa para sa mundo ng trabaho matapos silang magtapos sa kolehiyo.
