Six (6) logistics personnel from Cavite received a total of PHP 111,667.75 monetary claims from their employer through the Single-Entry Approach (SEnA) of the Department of Labor and Employment Cavite Provincial Office (DOLE CPO)
One of the workers, Ms. Kristina Santos, along with her colleagues, had a consultation with Public Assistance Desk Officer (PACD) Ms. Aleen Karrina L. Jardin, in which they were advised that in order to proceed with their exit clearance, they must abide with the requirements of their employer.
While the advice was given with the best of intentions, it did not end with good results for Ms. Santos and her colleagues, which led them to file a complaint through SEnA.
Labor and Employment Officer III, Mr. Ruben Terrible facilitated the two scheduled conciliation-mediation conferences which began last February 28, 2023. During the last conference, both parties discussed the issues at hand and the employer agreed to settle the workers' claims. The payment was released on the same day.
The settlement amount covers the payment for the service rendered and 13th month pay, distributed among the six workers. In addition, they were able to process their exit clearance that will let them start anew.
Ms. Santos thanked both PACD Officer Ms. Jardin and SEADO Mr. Terrible for the assistance provided to them. “Thank you po sa tulong, sa pag assist nyo sa amin. Malaking bagay, malaki rin yung nakuha namin.”
The SEnA is a 30-day mandatory conciliation-mediation which seeks to provide a speedy, impartial, inexpensive, and accessible settlement service for unresolved grievances and complaint arising from employer-employee relations to prevent them from ripening into full-blown disputes or actual labor cases.
