The informal workers through the federation of Tricycle Operators Drivers Association (TODA) of Kawit, Cavite adopted DOLE’s Family Welfare Program (FWP) with focus on family health. This was considered as the first in CALABARZON, an initiative to help the workers of the informal sector to access on health services.
Eight federation officers who attended the Family Health Program Orientation on April 8, 2013 in Kawit Rural Health Center also participated in the one-day planning workshop facilitated by Private Sector Mobilization for Family Health (PRISM2) on 17 May 2013 at Leslie’s Restaurant, Bacao, General Trias, Cavite.
The objectives of the planning workshop are: 1) to improve the availability of correct information, access to essential products and quality services necessary for informed voluntary choice in family planning; and 2) to ensure cooperation and stronger partnership of public and private sectors for the success of the program.
In addition, the same shall also form part of the DOLE Cavite’s social protection program for the workers in the informal sector. DOLE’s FWP helps to improve a better working condition for the federation members and their families to become more productive in their work and to have a decent work.
The activity was supported by the Department of Health Region IV-A, the Cavite Provincial Health Office (PHO), Public Employment Service Office (PESO) of Kawit and the Rural Health Unit (RHU) of Kawit.
