BEST CHILDHOOD EXPERIENCE EVER: DOLE LAGUNA CONTINUES TO BRING CHEER WITH CLPEP

Everyone for sure has a memorable childhood experience. For Michaela and Angel of Bgry. Concepcion, Pila, Laguna, their best childhood experience happened on 9 December 2016. It was their best childhood experience complete with gifts, stuffed toys, free meals and free rides at a theme park. Best of all, they felt the love of kind hearts and generous souls.

Their best childhood experience was made possible through the able leadership of PD Milagros R. Mata of DOLE Laguna, sponsor companies and the Laguna Labor Management Council through Project Angel Tree which has brought cheers to child laborers and children vulnerable to child labor in the province for several years.

Project Angel Tree is the platform of the DOLE for its child labor prevention and elimination campaign. It seeks to provide assistance to school children vulnerable to child labor by way of providing them with school supplies and other forms of assistance to keep them in school and become productive members of society
.
Sixty schoolchildren from Pila, Laguna were chosen as beneficiaries of Project Angel Tree. They were selected based on survey and assessment of barangay and local government officials in partnership with DOLE Laguna.

The bags, school supplies and other goodies were solicited from individual and company sponsors. These were sorted and prepared for distribution by DOLE Laguna personnel. The fun-filled day started with the schoolchildren attending a program at WODP Conference Room of DOLE Laguna. They were welcomed by PD Mata who introduced the people behind Project Angel Tree.

After the children watched a documentary on the plight of child workers, Sr. LEO Raymond Ramos, Child Labor Focal, explained Republic Act 9231 “An Act Providing for the Elimination of the Worst Forms of Child Labor and Affording Stronger Protection for the Working Child.”

During the program, PD Mata and officials of the LLMCi distributed bags, school supplies and other gifts to the delight of the beneficiaries. The children likewise enjoyed their free meal before moving on to their next adventure.

The children got more excited when they learned that they will go where every child wants to be, Enchanted Kingdom at Sta. Rosa, Laguna.

At Enchanted Kingdom, the children got some free treats with welcome show, fun games and free rides. Supervising LEO Nora Aguilar led LLMCi officers in the distribution of stuffed toys to the beneficiaries

Michaela and Angel were all the more happy when they received their stuffed toys. Both girls had the best day of their lives as they enjoyed their childhood, away from the clutches of child labor. Being beneficiaries of Project Angel Tree was definitely their best childhood experience ever.
