|CLES HEAD START. Supervising LEO Nora T. Aguilar welcomes participants to the first Continuing Labor Education Seminar at WODP Room of DOLE Laguna.|
With topics such as Productivity, General Labor Standards and Single Entry Approach (SENA) coupled with orientation on SPES and MER, in the Continuing Labor Education Seminar (CLES) of DOLE Laguna on February 16, 2017, twenty-three (23) Laguna establishments represented by 36 management personnel grabbed the opportunity to attend for them to get a head start for 2017.
DOLE Laguna Supervising Labor and Employment Officer Nora Aguilar welcomed the participants in behalf of PD Milagros Mata. Labor and Employment Officer III, Mhilca Lopez of the Regional Tripartite Wage and Productivity Board, jumpstarted the seminar with the topic “Productivity at Work.” The topic enlightened the participants on the various aspects of productivity in relation to labor and resources.
General Labor Standards might be a complex topic but with Labor Law Compliance Officer Sr. LEO Herbert Matre as speaker, the participants understood the intricacies of D.O. 131-B, “Revised Labor Laws Compliance System.” He explained the LLCS from the moment of assessment up to the period of compliance. The participants were able to understand the topic better with illustrations of actual inspections of the speaker.
The topic on Single Entry Approach (SENA) was discussed by Single Entry Approach Desk Officer (SEADO) Sr. LEO Rudyboy R. Sinay. The lecture started with a brief overview of the laws and issuances on conciliation and mediation. The topic was further explained with anecdotes of actual SENA cases and hearings.
Employment Focal Sr. LEO Lirio Malabanan also gave an orientation on Special Program for the Employment of Students (SPES) and tthe importance of regular submission of Monthly Employment Reports.
The CLES seminar on the above topics is only the first among those lined up by DOLE Laguna. Succeeding seminars will be conducted this year geared towards giving employees and employers the edge in terms of labor laws, human relations, mandatory social benefits and administrative proceedings.
Last year, DOLE Laguna Provincial Office conducted 160 seminars reaching 1,050 establishments and over 5,000 participants.
