DOLE QPO Head Edwin T. Hernandez while speaking to the members of the Federation of DOLE Assisted Associations of Quezon during their performance assessment held on June 15, 2017 at the DOLE QPO Conference Room.

The news that Lingkod Banahaw Multi-purpose Cooperative in Candelaria emerged as the regional winner for CALABARZON in the recently concluded 2017 Kabuhayan Awards inspired the members of the Federation of DOLE Assisted Associations in Quezon, Inc. or FDAQ to reactivate and work again in partnership with DOLE.

On June 15, 2017, the DOLE Quezon Provincial Office thru its Employment and Welfare Unit led the reactivation of FDAQ. For a brief background, FDAQ was organized through the initiatives of former QPO livelihood focal Raymond Ramos and now Deputy Provincial Officer Ohmar Lorena. A total of sixteen (16) associations with twenty two (22) participants attended the activity which was held at the DOLE QPO Conference Room, Grand Central Terminal, Ilayang Dupay, Lucena City.

In attendance to the said activity were Kilos Unlad ng Mamamayan ng Real (KUMARE) Inc., Quezon Agricultural Farmers Multi-Purpose Cooperative (QUAFMUCO) from Pagbilao, Passion Fruit and Vegetable Growers Marketing Association of Lucban Inc. (PAFVEGMAL), Lingkod Banahaw Multi-Purpose Cooperative and Magtatagumpay Aasenso kapag Uunahin Natin Lagi ang Diyos Multi-Purpose Cooperative (MAUNLAD MPC) both from Candelaria, Mamamala I Multi-Purpose Cooperative and Tumbaga I Bucal Irrigators Association Inc., Alay Kapwa Rural Men and Women Multi-Purpose Cooperative, Bgy. Pili Multi-Purpose Cooperative, Samahan ng Magniniyog at Maggugulay ng Tumbaga II Cooperative (SAMMATCO) all from Sariaya, Field Interviewers Association of San Andres (FIASA), Unique Weavers Association from Unisan, Ilayang Yuni-Multi-Purpose Cooperative from Mulanay, Agos ng Pag-asa Multi-Purpose Cooperative from Tagkawayan, VIBABIPAGASA Agrarian Reform Cooperative and New Gumaca Woodcraft Multi-Purpose Cooperative both from Gumaca.

The activity paved the way to determine the status of the livelihood projects implemented by the different DOLE accredited associations. During the presentation, several issues both organizational and operational were raised and discussed. An Organizational Capacity Assessment Tool and Quarterly Project Performance Report Form were given to the participants due for submission to DOLE QPO as part of the monitoring and documentation of success and impact of the project. Based on the report of individual associations 93.75% or 15 projects out of 16 are still in operation while 81.25% or 13 out of the 16 projects have already been liquidated by the beneficiaries.

In his closing message, QPO Head Edwin Hernandez challenged all the member associations of FDAQ to follow the steps of Lingkod Banahaw Multi-Purpose Cooperative and be the next regional if not national winner in the 2018 Kabuhayan Awards for Best DOLE Livelihood Assisted project.
