QUEZON LEAGUE OF MUNICIPALITIES DIALOGUES WITH DOLE QUEZON ON CONSTRUCTION SAFETY
DOLE QPO Head Edwin T. Hernandez (left, standing) while speaking to the Municipal Mayors of Quezon about the Construction Safety and Health Program during the League of Municipalities (LMP) meeting held on June 30, 2017.

In Quezon province one could say that the current major key employment generator is the construction industry. Indeed, the “Build, Build, Build” concept of the Duterte Administration is very much alive with on-going construction projects in almost every corner of the province. In fact, as of June 30, 2017 the Quezon Provincial Office has already received a total of 622 applications for approval of Construction Safety and Health Program (CSHP) for projects worth the total amount of P7,264,988,631.

In the course of seeking approval of CSHP there seems to be confusion arising from the different towns of Quezon which prompted the League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP) Quezon Chapter to seek clarification from the DOLE Quezon Provincial Office.

On June 30, 2017 QPO Head Edwin T. Hernandez and CSHP focal Engr. Rudelyn Bautista were invited by the LMP during its regular meeting held at Quezon Premiere Hotel in Lucena City to present and discuss DOLE issuances relative to CSHP as one of the requirements for contractors before any construction project commences. During the dialogue, QPO Head Hernandez kept on reminding the twenty two (22) Chief Executives present of the DOLE Memoranda issued by then Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz which advises all Building Officials not to process building permits without the required CSHP duly approved by the concerned DOLE offices.
