A realization of a long time aspiration, DOLE Laguna Provincial Office finally nabbed its first win on the elusive award for National Best PESO. It has been years of preparation and close evaluation working with outstanding Laguna PESO teams to have better chances in the National Search for Best PESO in several categories. And, the strong partnership with each PESO nominee has been its ticket to striking gold.

DOLE IV-A Regional Director Ma. Zenaida A. Angara-Campita and DOLE Laguna OIC Guido R. Recio were pleased by the turnout of national nominees this year with PESO Pila for the 3rd and 4th class municipality category not to mention PESO Biñan for the component city category.

DOLE Laguna OIC Recio claimed, “We have got the best entries this year with well-documented performance statistics worthy not only of provincial and regional recognition but also the much-anticipated national recognition for Best PESO.”

Overwhelmed by the recognition for Best Public Service Office in 3rd to 4th Class Municipality at the provincial and regional levels, Pila PESO has never been more grateful to be nominated for the National Best PESO the second time around. Still, winning the national category appeared to be a fat-fetched aspiration for this small yet historical town having failed to get a nod last year.

Pila PESO was among the crowd of more than 500 stakeholders gathering for the 7th National PESO Congress hosted by DOLE Region II at FL Dy Coliseum in Cauayan City, Isabela on 4-6 October 2017.

It came as a surprise when Pila PESO was announced as the national winner for Best PESO onits respective category. The award was accepted by the astonished Pila PESO Officer Jason Palasin who was joined by DOLE IV-A Regional Director Ma. Zenaida A. Angara-Campita, DOLE Laguna OIC Guido R. Recio and Regional Employment Focal Naomi Hernandez. All of a sudden, the tense ambiance turned into a celebratory atmosphere as they posed for a picture painted with modest smiles.

The Pila PESO officer recognized that the success was a product of concerted efforts stating,

“I am deeply honored by this recognition and I am sharing this award to everyone who took part in the achievement of this milestone. It is also heart-warming that our hard work on labor and employment to the people of Pila had an impact not only to the community but also to the National PESO Congress. And, we will continue to bring the best public employment service to the municipality and be a strong partner to the Department of Labor and Employment that together we will strive and reach greater heights.”

Cristella Caspillan (leftmost).

What has kept the Pila PESO team grounded is the journey in catching up with an excellent employment track through the technical assistance extended by DOLE Laguna. Having gone through the meticulous eyes of DOLE Laguna Employment Focal Lirio T. Malabanan, it has garnered sufficient guidance as employment flourished in the locality. This has delighted no less than the municipal chief, Hon. Mayor Edgardo Ramos who has this to say,

“The Local Government Unit takes pride in its latest accomplishment as the National Best PESO being a fruit of hard work, dedication and passion. More than honor, this is a validation of extending better services to the people. This award will make us work harder to better serve toward the greater good of the Pileño worker.”

It can be recalled that DOLE Laguna presented an award to Pila PESO as the winner of the Search for 2016 Best PESO for 3rd and 4th Class Municipality at the People’s Center in Biñan City on 18 May 2017.

Meanwhile, Pila PESO stays true to its commitment in the observance of excellence in the delivery of employment programs and services in partnership with DOLE Laguna Provincial Office and the support of the Laguna PESO Community led by the Federation of Laguna PESO Officers, Inc. President Romualdo A. Garcia and its Secretary, Ms. Mary Jane B. Corcuera.

With a consistent track of excellent public employment service, nabbing another win next year and getting inducted to the Hall of Fame on the Search for the National Best PESO might not be a far-fetched aspiration after all.
