QUEZON HONORS FILIPINO WORKERS WITH ORGANIZE JOB AND BUSINESS FAIRS ON MAY 1

LUCENA CITY – The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Quezon Provincial Office organized a Jobs and Business Fair on May 1, 2019 in celebration of the 117th Labor Day with the theme “Pagpupugay sa Manggagawang Pilipino” which will be held at the Activity Center of the Pacific Mall Lucena.

Expected in this year’s Jobs and Business Fair are fifty five (55) direct hire local employers and five (5) overseas employment agencies with a total of more than 6,500 job vacancies at stake to successful job seekers.

Different government agencies are also expected to participate on May 1 and extend government assistance such as the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Quezon who will provide business counseling to DOLE assisted livelihood beneficiaries, the Technical Education Skills and Development Authority (TESDA) to conduct advisory on skills training, POEA and OWWA to cater to the needs of overseas Filipino workers, SSS, PhilHealth and Pag-IBIG to assist in enrollment facilitation on social protection, PhilPost and the Philippine Statistics Authority.

Also highlighting the Labor Day activity is the ceremonial release of the Rice Retailing Project for Quezon Based members of Obrero Pilipino – Samahan ng mga Manggagawa sa N. dela Rosa Liner Inc. Chapter in the total amount of P301,450. Likewise, OWWA will also release check for livelihood showcase of returning OFWs and the turn-over of one set of PC to the Provincial PESO and City PESO of Tayabas which will be used to support labor market information activities.

The entire activity which is already on its third year is made possible through the generous sponsorship and support of the management of Pacific Mall Lucena with the assistance of the Quezon Federation of Public Employment Service Officers.
