Some 376 jobseekers were hired-on-the-spot (HOTS) out of 1,703 registered applicants while 326 individuals availed various government services during the recent Job and Business Fairs as part of the Labor Day Celebration held in Quezon and Cavite provinces.

“CALABARZON is a manufacturing hub, hence, majority of the HOTS were production operators although management trainees, service crews and waiters were also hired during the fairs,” said Regional Director Henry John S. Jalbuena.

The said vacancies were part of the 8,407 local and 411 overseas vacancies offered by 109 participating employers.

RD Jalbuena further remarked that with this year’s theme, “Pagpupugay sa Manggagawang Pilipino” the job and business fair was an avenue for everyone to seek not only job opportunities but also to avail some of the government services that will augment income, enhance skills and increase knowledge on labor standards and social protection benefits. The presence of DTI, TESDA, POEA, OWWA, SSS, Philhealth and Pag-ibig provided various services to the jobseekers.

Rice Retailing Project, a DOLE CALABARZON livelihood assistance, was awarded to Quezon-based members of Obrero Pilipino-Samahan ng mga Manggagawa sa N. Dela Rosa Liner, Inc. amounting to Php 301,450.00 while two sets of IT equipment were turned over to the Public Employment Service Offices of Quezon Province and Tayabas to further improve the employment services in the areas. OWWA also awarded package of assistance to returning OFWs.

The said fairs were conducted by DOLE ROIV-A (CALABARZON) in partnership with PESO Quezon, PESO General Trias, Pacific Mall in Lucena City on May 1, 2019 and Robinsons Mall in the City of General Trias on May 2, 2019.
