1,476 Applicants Join Independence Day Job Fairs in CALABARZON

A total of 662 out of 1,476 registered applicants or 45% were hired-on-the-spot (HOTS) and about 500 were considered “near-hires” or those qualified applicants which will be placed once the companies have completed their final assessments during the two (2) job fairs conducted in the provinces of Cavite and Laguna in celebration of the 121st Independence Day.

DOLE CALABARZON Regional Director Henry John S. Jalbuena, who led the opening rites, said that he is very much delighted with the turnout of participants, both applicants and employers, which aimed to celebrate the Philippine Independence Day with a cause.

“The Department will always provide the people with jobs and livelihood opportunities as it is our aim to create decent and productive work which will be the contribution of everyone to achieve genuine progress,” he said. He also urged the applicants to find a role in keeping the freedom of our nation especially with the ever changing demands of our times.

Meanwhile, DOLE Secretary Silvestre Bello III in his Independence Day message, recognized the Filipino workers, in the Philippines and elsewhere in the world as our modern-day heroes who have been our nation’s most reliable force in pursuit of national growth and development.

For local employment, production operators still atop occupation with more than 5,000 vacancies followed by production aide, office staff and call center agents, while nurses, midwives, respiratory therapist and x-ray technicians are needed with a total of 650 vacancies for overseas deployment.

Manufacturing industry leads as the key employment generator with 66.97% of the total job vacancies solicited from the said sector. This is followed by Administrative and Support Service Activities and Wholesale and Retail Trade with 17.84% and 7.81%, respectively.

The said activities were held at the Freedom Park, Aguinaldo Shrine, Kawit, Cavite and Pavillion Mall, City of Biñan, Laguna in cooperation with the Public Employment Service Offices (PESO) of said Local Government Units.

The 2019 Independence Day is observed with the theme, “Kalayaan 2019 Tapang ng Bayan, Malasakit sa Mamamayan”.
