The release of livelihood assistance to the parents of profiled child laborers and school supplies highlighted the World Day Against Child Labor (WDACL) celebration of DOLE Quezon Provincial Office in Real, Quezon on June 20, 2019.

The livelihood package identified by the parents ranges from “Bigasan” to “Grocery and Bigasan” individual projects. A total of 473 sacks of half cavan rice and 178 boxes of grocery items were distributed to forty nine (49) parents that amounted to P965,750. On the other hand, out from the proceeds of Project Angel Tree Drop A Coin and Donate A Used Beverage Can and Help Send a Child Laborer to School forty nine (49) profiled child laborers received packed school supplies which cost a total of P16,500.00.

Ms. Corazon Santiago who represented the Quezon Tripartite Industrial Peace Council discussed the important role of the private sector in the fight against child labor. She reiterated in her message the importance of participation of all sector to achieve the goal of the Angel Tree program which is to remove children from work and send them to school in order to secure a brighter future.

The event was even made more meaningful with the Local Chief Executive of Real, Quezon the Honorable Diana Abigail D. Aquino signing the Declaration of Support in the Campaign for the Total Elimination of All Forms of Child Labor by the Local Government of Real, Quezon Towards the Realization of a Child Labor Free Municipality. Under the said declaration, the local chief executive shall lead the local officials in promoting the protection of children from abuse, exploitation and discrimination and in crafting local legislations and policies that will lead to the elimination of child labor.

Aside from celebrating the World Day Against Child Labor in Real, Quezon the DOLE provincial office also oversee in the said municipality the conduct of Jobs Fair and payout of 36 TUPAD beneficiaries who were victim of then Typhoon Ompong.
