Provincial PESO Focal Daisy G. Ramos (4th from left) facilitates oath-taking of new Federation of Laguna PESO Officers with Mr. Romualdo A. Garcia of PESO Biñan (2nd from right), Ms. Mary Jane B. Corcuera of Laguna PESO, Mr. Sonny Evangelista of Bay PESO, and Mr. Jayson Palasin of Pila PESO, Elgine Cardonigara of PESO Liliw, and Michael Lombedencio of PESO Luisiana.

Timely accomplishment of targets has always been emphasized by Regional Director Henry John S. Jalbuena with employment facilitation programs among the list of priority deliverables.

With the tried and tested partnership between DOLE Laguna Provincial Office (LPO) and Public Employment Service Offices across the province, so many milestones have been accomplished through the years of working together to stay on top of the game under the leadership of DOLE Laguna Provincial Director Guido R. Recio.

For the past three years, entries in the Search for Best Public Employment Service Office hailed from Laguna with Pila PESO keeping its reign under the 3th and 4th Class Municipality category at the national level and Biñan PESO under the Component City category and Laguna PESO under the Provincial PESO category both at the regional level.

All three were recently recognized during the 2019 Regional Search for Best PESO Awarding Ceremony held during the Mid-Year Performance Assessment on 26 June 2019 at the Dalampasigan Beach Resort in Sariaya, Quezon.

In efforts of sustaining accomplishments over the years, Biñan PESO Manager Romualdo A. Garcia was again chosen to lead the Federation of Laguna PESO Officers, Inc. (FLAGPOI) along with other veteran officers. He was likewise elected as President of the Region IV-A Alliance of Public Employment Service Officers. Chances are, he will be bringing best practices from the provincial to the regional level.

The new set of FLAGPOI incoming officers were inducted on 13 June 2019 facilitated by Provincial Employment Focal Persons, Ms. Daisy G. Ramos and Ms. Maria Cristela S. Caspillan at the DOLE Laguna WODP Room. A modest celebration ensued along with reminders to stay on track when it comes to accomplishing deliverables in the many different employment facilitation programs. This way, the group can sustain its strong performance which has redounded recognition to the province.

Among the other incumbent FLAGPOI officers are Engr. Lauren R. Hernandez of San Pedro City PESO (Vice-President), Ms. Mary Jane B. Corcuera of Laguna PESO (Secretary), Ms. Sweet Faith Ferrangcol of Kalayaan PESO (Treasurer), Ms. Marissa Aguilar of Alaminos PESO (Auditor), Mr. Jayson Palasin of Pila PESO (PRO-4th District A), Mr. Arnold R. Deocansel of Mabitac PESO (PRO-4th District B), Ms. Merly Dorado of Nagcarlan PESO (PRO-3rd District), Mr. Sonny Evangelista of Bay PESO (PRO-2nd District), and Mr. Christian Benedict T. Bueno of Cabuyao City PESO (Program and Project Coordinator).

There are many promising projects in the works initiated by PESOs in the province. From the Calamba Employment Summit in 2014 which led to the Human Resource Development Plan 2015-2020, the Laguna Employment Summit was launched on 27 March 2019 at LLC Auditorium Central II in Calamba City, Laguna with no less than Labor Undersecretary Renato L. Ebarle commending Governor Ramil H. Hernandez for a responsive employment framework.

In the first half of the year, DOLE Laguna was able to report 37,761 applicants referred for placement accomplishing 56% of its annual target. It has also monitored placement of 35,309 workers accounting for 93% placement rate. With over a million of individuals reached for Labor Market Information, it easily surpassed the required number.

Assisting more than 2,000 beneficiaries in the Special Program for Employment of Students, education of these underprivileged yet hardworking youth will be assured at least for the first semester of the school year.

Consistent with RD Jalbuena’s mandate, it has been the pleasure of DOLE Laguna to work hand in hand with every PESO in the province to advance employment facilitation initiatives.
