ELCAC IN ACTION, FORMER REBELS TO AVAIL OF LIVELIHOOD ASSISTANCE FROM DOLE QUEZON

Pursuant to the directive of the President as embodied in Executive Order No. 70 or the Whole of Nation Approach to end communist armed conflict, the DOLE Quezon Provincial Office being the lead agency of the Sectoral Unification Capacity Building Empowerment and Mobilization cluster of the localized ELCAC in the province of Quezon, met with thirty seven (37) former rebels (FRs) from the town of General Nakar to discuss possible government intervention that would be beneficial to the former rebels themselves and their immediate families.

Among the areas of intervention that DOLE QPO Head Edwin Hernandez discussed focused not only with the DOLE’s livelihood programs but training and other support system as well. Among the other possible support projects that Mr. Hernandez presented to the FRs ranges from free techvoc training to be provided by partner TESDA accredited techvoc schools and agribusiness projects to be provided by Soro Soro Ibaba Development Cooperative (SIDC).

Mr. Kim Daren Pabilonia, QPO’s alternate livelihood focal, on the other hand clarified and discussed with the beneficiaries the type of livelihood intervention and requirements that needs to be submitted by the former rebels in availing the DOLE’s livelihood programs.
