DOLE Quezon, PESO Lucena assist locally stranded individuals from Masbate



Five locally stranded individuals (LSIs) who are all workers from Marinduque bound for their home province of Masbate were endorsed to the Quezon Provincial Office by the DOLE IV-A Technical Services and Support Division-Employment and Welfare (TSSD E/W) for possible assistance on June 22, 2020.

Initially, the information about the five LSIs was communicated by DOLE Region IV-B and the Presidential Management Staff (PMS) to DOLE IV-A regional office. Immediately, DOLE Quezon sought the assistance of the City Government of Lucena through its City PESO Manager Cristina Encina who then referred the matter to Ms. Janet Gendrano, the city’s Disaster Risk Reduction Management Officer.

The LSIs arrived at the Port of Lucena in Dalahican at 7:10 pm of June 24, 2020. Upon arrival the CDRRMO provided a short briefing on the local health protocol of the city in relation to control of COVID 19 local transmission. Food packs and an isolation room at the port were prepared by the city for the LSIs namely, Vmas P. Prieto, 31 years old, Michael S. Albao, 32 years old, Ernie M. Catadman, 26 years old, Ronnie V. Rapsing 51 years old and Abel P. Situjado, 40 years old. The LSIs originated from their place of employment at Sitio Punta, Bgy. Dampulan, Torrijos, Marinduque.

On June 25, 2020 at around 3:45 am, the LSIs were picked up by the City Health personnel from the port and were brought to the PNR Station in Lucena for their early morning trip to Bicol where they will be transported back to Masbate.
