ECC, DOLE ORIENT EMPLOYERS ON COVID-19, PROMOTE SAFETY WORKPLACES IN QUEZON

“Angat ang may alam,” this is how ECC REU4A Information Officer Ruby Ann Fajardo view the free webinar jointly conducted by the Employees Compensation Commission Regional Extension Unit 4A, DOLE Quezon Provincial Office and the Quezon Tripartite Industrial Peace Council (QTIPC) held on August 6, 2020.

The conduct of the free webinar was very timely considering the surge in COVID 19 positive in CALABARZON which led to its unexpected return to Modified Enhance Community Quarantine (MECQ) until August 18, 2020. QPO Head Edwin Hernandez in his welcome message emphasized the need for cooperation not only from the community but of the workers and employers in the workplace as well.

Dr. Anneavbit Talan de Luna, Head of Infection Control and Prevention and Antimicrobial Stewardship Committee of the Quezon Memorial Hospital in Lucena City, acted as the resource speaker on the topic Understanding COVID 19 – Sypmtoms to Prevention. Dr. Anne also gave some information relative to protocols on contact tracing and referral as well as list of Level 1 and Level 2 hospitals in the province of Quezon for COVID patients in need of hospitalization.

Ms. Ruby Ann Fajardo of ECC REU4A on the other hand oriented the participants on the services available to the workers during this time of pandemic.

In summary, the free webinar was a big success as evidenced by the comments of the participants in the online evaluation conducted by ECC after the presentations. With the knowledge the participants got from the webinar, DOLE Quezon is hoping it will help facilitate flatten or at least decrease the incidence of CVOVID 19 positive especially in the workplace in the province of Quezon.
