Lucena City – All entries of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Quezon Provincial Office emerged as Regional winners of the Kabuhayan Awards 2020.

The DOLE Kabuhayan Awards is an annual recognition of individuals and groups who have successfully managed their DOLE assisted livelihood projects.  The process, rules and regulations governing the selection of the winners were institutionalized through Administrative Order No. 32 series of 2020 issued by Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III.  Entries are judged based on their relevance, effectiveness and efficiency.




For this year, the Individual category winner is Ms. Elizabeth Aguilar who hails from the City of Lucena.  Beth as her peers call her is a trained sewer who was assisted by DOLE through the provision of sewing machine and raw materials.  The winner for the Group category is Sariaya Citrus Growers Association from the town of Sariaya, Quezon.  A producer of locally made natural calamansi juice, received from DOLE a grant assistance for the purchase of equipment in the amount of P500,000. 



Yakap at Halik Multi-Purpose Cooperative from Padre Burgos, Quezon was chosen as Best Accredited Co-Partner of DOLE in assisting small and emerging livelihood projects of rural workers in the countryside of Quezon while the Municipality of Mauban was recognized as Best Kabuhayan project local government unit implementer.  Finally, Mr. Ohmar A. Lorena, livelihood focal person of DOLE Quezon was accorded as Best Livelihood Provincial Kabuhayan implementer.

In his message, DOLE IV-A OIC-Assistant Regional Director Nepomuceno A. Leaño II congratulated all the winners of this year’s awards. “We may not yet get the national award by this time but there will come a time when all your efforts will be duly recognized. Nevertheless, the regional office is happy with all your achievements, keep it up as you make a difference in your respective communities,” ARD Leaño mentioned.

“The recognition received by our assisted livelihood projects, partner implementers from both the local government and the private sector including our provincial program manager is something we can all be proud of.  Indeed, it is an indication that all our efforts to uplift the lives of Quezonians amids the pandemic pays off and is on the right track.  My congratulations to all,” says DOLE Quezon Provincial Head Edwin T. Hernandez.

 The recognition of the regional winners took place during the virtual National Kabuhayan Awards held on November 20, 2020.
